No, No YOU'RE the poophead, Mr. President

Good lord, I can't wait for the election to be over with. Where did the issues go? ie. Mr. Bush has done very little good for the country in his four years, and garnered a whole lot of bad will from the world's community.

The one thing he may have done right was look sufficiently concerned after 9/11. and boy a day doesn't go by when it's not harped on. he is flaunting an event that he didn't cause or plan, but only that he looked sad when he was supposed to look sad, and read speeches that someone else wrote. what sort of "accomplishment" is that.

Banning stem cell research? pissing off korea, china, and the entire middle east? eroded environmental protections? Enacted a medicare/prescription card that seems to do little for the elderly except confuse them? what a legacy!

I'm not convinced that Kerry is going to be a lot better, but he can't be any worse!

And though we might think it will all be decided Nov 2, the truth is, we all know that it will come down to the supreme court again. *sigh* no wonder both parties want the opportunity to pick the next justice!

Too much of a bad thing

People are always trying to point out the cause of our society's calamatous (yeah, that's spelled so wrong) decline. Violent video games. nipple rings on national TV, teen boys in baggie shorts. the real culprit, i think, are the 24 hour news channels. Sensationalism? Don't get me started.

At no time is this more evident than during this recent flu shot shortage. I'll explain.

The 24 hour stations are scrambling for stories, they repeat there stories over and over, every 15 minutes. To compete, the local news shows sensationalize every headline... "If you don't get a flu shot, will you end up in the hospital?" Where's the balanced reporting in that bullshit? Does anyone discuss how often people actually die from the flu? Is this season's strain worse than in the years past? how many peole usually get shots, and how many more people are getting them this year because of the hype? It's sickening.

Scott Peterson... they're dredging the lake again... remember that "news-worthy" story last year? Four days of NO NEWS. this was not a news event. it was wishful thinking. maybe they'll find something.

ack. i got started.

ruby on the move!!

Ruby has been crawling for 3 or 4 weeks and oh, what a difference it makes!

She can now crawl over for attention or play, or she can crawl to find me in the kitchen. She's a ruffian, i've discovered. she hid it when she couldn't crawl up and over my head when i'm lying on the floor.

We also went to the arduous process of "ferberizing" our baby. contary to its sound, it doesn't involve dry cleaning. There is a man named ferber who prescribes a method of training babies to put them selves back to sleep in the middle of the night, rather than having to be rocked at 3 in the morning. It was rather a painful process of letting the baby cry it out, with measured parental reassurances. The first week was pretty hard, involving quite a bit of crying before naps, and early morning sessions of squalling. But things are better now and only involve 4 or 5 minutes of crying.... most of the time. She turns on her little musical crib thingie to help her fall asleep.

Other developments: squalls when being changed, loves green beans and carrots and cantalope and has gotten quite good at picking up cheerios one at a time. still adores the cats who are even less thrilled now that she can crawl.

Pro-Life? Get a life.

I get so angry everytime I see some religious fanatic hoisting a poster with the image of an aborted fetus. These self-righteous nimrods would rather bomb clinics and verbally assault poor women on their way into clinics instead of providing poor girls and women real options.

Get this. These very same self-righteous people are too uncomfortable to teach their children about sex and contraception and then when their daugher mistakenly gets knocked up, these god squaders condemn them and provide no more guidance or education and then are appalled when they choose abortion. Instead of offering real solutions, ie. sex education, free contraception, counseling and housing for unwed mothers, adoption services, they would rather stand outside of a clinic and scream obscenities at the very young, very naive women that they have already failed twice. makes no sense.

I understand that the idea of "murdering" a fetus is reprehensible for many, I'm not sure that I could go through one, especially now that I've had my own child, but I do believe it is every woman's choice to decide for themselves, and I will defend that right til my dying day. I understand anyone believing it is wrong, but that does NOT mean that they should prevent others.

And another thing. If you're against abortions and don't want young, unfortunately pregnant woman to think that it's the only way to save their lives, provide REAL fucking options sex education, free contraception, counseling, adoption services, free housing, whatever it takes to help girls, and I believe it's usually young girls, see that there might be some other way to go.

Until you are ready to provide real solutions, shut the fuck up and put your goddam awful dead-fetus posters away.
