good times, good times...

Summer 07 is sliding to oblivion and we're left with photos and freckles and sand in odd places. There were festivals and swimming pools, soccer games and cold games (although not always at the same time, sadly). And since Ive been receiving threatening emails from certain godmothers of mine (ahem, hi fran!) I thought I better post some pics post haste.

I neglected to mention the vacay mohawk, didn't I...

That's our buddy DeAnn. Hi DeAnn! Thanks for putting up with us over vacation.

There was a game at the beach house called "pretty pretty princess" or some such nonsense. It has been reduced to a haphazard batch of plastic rings and earrings. We made up our own rules and looked bad-ass in our broken tiaras.

What can I say, the girl has a knack for accessorizing that I lack.

See? I told you.
Apparently hats are really hot this Fall.

It's amazing that if you have a camera in your hand and you say in a bossy tone "Make a stupid face", people will generally comply.
See? Amazing!
I'm afraid to post Richard's results of this series as he has the password to this site and immediate restitution would ensue. Not pretty my friends, not pretty.

Official Start of Summer

I can't tell you how much fun I had watching this little imp running through the sprinkler. And the happy serendipity of this photo couldn't have been planned. Memorial Day Weekend brought 2 different sprinklers, one Mount Tiki Soki water toy, one baby pool, one outdoor mall fountain and a backyard in-ground swimming pool. No wonder she's a little pruny.

Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom

We were honored by a nestful of guests this spring. It seemed to happen so fast. Oh! A nest! And suddenly the little golden maws gopping for wormy goodness from mommy or daddy bird. The parents seemed to never rest. They were constantly trawling our yard for worms and other goodies, especially after a good rain or lawn watering. Like old men with metal detectors they minced along with their heads down.

I never knew how quick the time from egg to flight was. In just over a week these little fuzzy things were gone! I met one at the trash can out back. It was robin-sized but still dun-colored, the red breast yet to come in. It let me come very close and seemed to look me in the eye as it pooped a mighty bird-poop before it flew off in a hurry. So they have to LEARN how to poop and fly at the same time. I thought it came naturally to them.

Here, then, two photos. Through the magic of nature's great plan, they blend in rather well with their nestly home.

and a week later...

As of yesterday, it seemed impossible that all three could still fit in this twiggy masterpiece. Our cat intently watched our little guests, her very own kitty TV.

Bye Bye Birdies! Be well and safe and may you eat many worms.

Better Red Than Dead

Alrighty friendy-friends! It's photo time! I guess I'm gonna get to keep my "autographed" picture of Laverne and Shirley cause nary a soul out there in webland has sent in their very find red pic to pagalina (at) yahoo (dot) com. Come on peeps! we're not talking high art! We're talking FUN art. Put the U in FUN!

and a bonus one that i think is sort of a bratty cheat

There's still time if you want to send one in! Where do we go from here? Do we send it out for a vote? The photographer of the selected photo wins? wins what? Can you tell which photo(s) were taken by Dickie and which were taken by me? These were taken with a little point n' shoot, nuthin' too fancy in photoshop either. What should our next contest be?

This is NOT my photo entry

Don't let this confuse you cause this is NOT the entry I'm submitting for our little Red Photo Contest. Nope. Can't commit to it. When it comes to something like this, I'm like a catholic girl on prom night, will I or won't I? Consider this, instead, one idea I had for this. I've got a couple of other tricks up my sleeve, don't you worry.

10 points if you can figure out what it is! (don't answer, Dickie, cause I know you'll recognize it!)

Phototasmagoria

Richard and I? We get a little bored. Especially in the winter. Especially when work isn't as creative as it could be and in lieu of becoming ax murderers or supermarket psychos, we sometimes devise little bets or projects for ourselves. One bet involving miniature golf resulted in me having to create a little shrine to everything richardly. It was quite stunning, had little candles and gems and was nestled in a cigar box. I should take a photo of it, I'm quite proud of it, but Richard is a little self-conscious about it. Perfect fodder for the ol' bloggy blog, though!

Richard pitched the idea of a photo project. Pick a topic and then each post the results. Our current subject is in honor of Valentine's Day: Red. And I'll extend the contest to our little friends here as well, anybody who emails me a photo that symbolizes "red" will receive a little prize. hmm. What should it be? A hand-crocheted potholder made by me-myself-and-I? In the color of your selection? You've got til Friday to send in a photo to pagalina (at) yahoo (dot) com. I'll post it here and you can provide your mailing address offline for your beautiful potholder. Any other ideas for prizes? I do have an awesome "autographed" picture of Laverne and Shirley. Or a ticket stub from my very first concert, which was Kansas (blowing in the WIND)!
